PM Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) provides free LPG gas connections to women from poor households, replacing traditional chulhas with cleaner cooking fuel — relevant to many rural households across Madhepura district.

Eligibility

A woman above 18 years from a poor household with no existing LPG connection. Eligible categories include SC/ST, PMAY-G beneficiaries, Antyodaya (AAY) cardholders, forest dwellers, river island dwellers, or self-declared poor households.

A free gas connection, the first refill free, and a free hotplate under Ujjwala 2.0.

Documents

No address proof from the current state is required — a self-declaration is accepted, along with Aadhaar-based verification. This makes it accessible even for migrant workers who may not have local address documents.
