Madhepura Vehicle RC Transfer (RTO Code BR-43)

Madhepura's vehicles are registered under RTO code BR-43. Transferring ownership after a sale follows a hybrid process — starting online, finishing at the District Transport Office (DTO).

Step 1: Apply Online

1. Visit the Parivahan Sewa portal, select Bihar, and enter your vehicle's registration number.
2. Select "Transfer of Ownership," enter the last 5 digits of the chassis number, and verify via mobile OTP.
3. Fill in vehicle and new owner details, upload scanned documents, and pay the transfer fee online (around ₹300).
4. Generate the receipts for Forms 29 and 30.

Step 2: Verification at Madhepura DTO

Present your file to the Motor Vehicles Inspector at the Madhepura DTO office for scrutiny — High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) must be fitted, as this is checked physically. After verification, pay the ownership transfer fee and smart card charges; the new Smart Card RC arrives by post in 30-45 days.

Documents Required

Original RC, valid insurance, PUC certificate, ID and address proof of both parties, and an NOC from the financier if the vehicle had a loan.

Timeline & Penalty

Ownership transfer must be completed within 14 days of sale; delays attract a penalty of ₹500 per month.
