Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is a government savings scheme for a girl child's future education and marriage expenses, available at banks and post offices across Madhepura district.

Interest Rate

Currently 8.2% per annum (April-June 2026 quarter), compounded yearly — among the highest of any small savings scheme.

Eligibility

The account can be opened any time from the girl's birth until she turns 10. It's managed by a parent or legal guardian until she turns 18, after which she can operate it herself.

Documents Required

The girl child's birth certificate, the guardian's identity and address proof, PAN or Aadhaar, photographs, and other standard KYC documents.

How to Open an Account

Visit any participating bank branch (see our Madhepura bank directory) or a post office branch, fill Form-1, submit documents, and make your first deposit — anywhere from ₹250 up to ₹1.5 lakh per year.
