Bihar doesn't participate in the central government's PMFBY crop insurance scheme — instead, it runs its own state-funded alternative, the Rajya Fasal Sahayata Yojana, directly relevant to farmers across flood-prone Madhepura district.

Key Feature: No Premium

Unlike PMFBY, this scheme requires no premium payment from farmers — it's entirely free to enrol in.

Compensation Amount

₹7,500 per hectare for crop loss of 20% or more, and ₹10,000 per hectare for crop loss above 20%, based on yield data for the season.

Eligibility

All permanent farmers of Bihar — both Raiyat (landowners) and non-Raiyat (tenant farmers) — across all districts, including Madhepura.

Apply each season at pacsonline.bih.nic.in. Applications open separately for the Rabi and Kharif seasons with crop-wise deadlines — check the portal at the start of each season rather than waiting.
